For Parents

Louisiana PROMISE / PIRC services are based on the premise that the more involved parents are in their children's education the more successful their children will be in school.   Due to this premise, Louisiana PROMISE / PIRC:

  1. Recognizes parents as the first and most important teachers of children;
  2. Empowers parents as advocates for the success of their children;
  3. Assists families to greater self-sufficiency.

Parents Located In Bossier, Caddo, and East Baton Rouge Parishes

In Bossier, Caddo and East Baton Rouge parishes, Louisiana PROMISE / PIRC provides many educational opportunities for families. Certified Parent Educators provide educational support and developmental information to families of infants and young children from prenatal to age five. Certified Parent Educators utilize the research-based, national model Parents as Teachers, which comprises of four components: personal visits, group meetings, health screenings, and a resource network.  Each family participating in Louisiana PROMISE / PIRC Parents as Teachers program will have a Needs Assessment completed in order to identify any other resources that may be provided to promote the well being of the entire family. (Note: The East Baton Rouge Parents as Teachers program is managed and operated by the YWCA of Greater Baton Rouge Center for Family Empowerment.)
